General Motors Radio Unlock Codes: How to Reset Your GM Theftlock Radio

If your GM vehicle’s radio displays “LOC,” it means the theftlock system is activated, preventing its use. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to obtain General Motors Radio Unlock Codes and reset your GM, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, or Pontiac theftlock radio.

The process involves retrieving a code from your radio and using it to obtain an unlock code from GM.

First, ensure your vehicle’s ignition is turned ON and the radio displays “LOC.” Then, press and hold radio preset buttons 2 and 3 simultaneously for six seconds. The display will change from “LOC” to a three-digit number. Quickly write this number down.

Next, within fifteen seconds, press the AM/FM button. The radio will then display a second three-digit number. Write this number down next to the first three-digit number. You now have a six-digit code.

Now, call GM’s Radio Unlock Service at 1-800-537-5140. Press 1 followed by the # (pound) key. You will likely hear a message stating “Invalid Code, try again.” Then, enter one of the following dealership codes: 139010, 106010, 206010, or 202107, followed by the # key.

You’ll be prompted to enter your six-digit code followed by the * (star) key. The system will then provide you with a four-digit unlock code. This code will be repeated twice. Write it down.

With the ignition still ON and the radio displaying “LOC,” use the MN and HR buttons on your radio to enter the four-digit unlock code you received. Finally, press the AM/FM button. The display should change to “SEC,” indicating your radio is unlocked.

If you enter the incorrect code eight times, the radio will enter “INOP” mode. You must wait one hour with the ignition ON for the radio to return to “LOC” mode before attempting to unlock it again. This process requires careful attention to detail and accurate code entry. Following these steps correctly will help you successfully unlock your GM vehicle’s radio.
