Focus 04: A Week of Rehearsals, Challenges, and Gratitude

The past week has been a whirlwind of rehearsals for “The Wind in the Willows,” with the show just four weeks away. Intense all-day Sunday rehearsals, coupled with the usual weekday evening practices, are bringing the production together. Stepping into costume and embodying the character of Mole provides a much-needed escape from the stresses of daily life.

Beyond “The Wind in the Willows,” other rehearsals filled the week. Preparations for a Sunday concert and the start of panto rehearsals kept things busy. Meanwhile, challenges arose with Thomas’s school experience. Adjusting to the classroom environment proved difficult, leading to frustrating communication with the school regarding behavioral issues and necessary support. A move back to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) classroom, where he previously thrived, offers hope for improvement.

Amidst the busy schedule and challenges, moments of gratitude shone through. Matching pajamas, a fun bowling outing celebrating a friend’s birthday, stunning sunrises, and the return of a husband brought joy. Quiet moments of calm, a rare chance for post-rehearsal pub socialization, and long phone conversations with mum provided solace and connection.

Additional highlights included Sophie receiving a “Brainiac” award at school, further emphasizing the positive moments amidst a demanding week. The focus remains on navigating the challenges, embracing the joys, and appreciating the moments of gratitude that life offers.
