Preparing for the Update
Before starting the Bmw E60 Map Update, gather the following:
- iStep Navigation (CIC/2009+): Crucial for the update process. Verify its presence by checking for the “i” circle in the navigation’s lower left corner.

Generating the FSC Code

- Ensure the extracted files, including “RSA Keys” and “Lookup.xml,” appear before launching the generator.
- Open the CIC generator application.
- Browse and select the “1b.hex” file you obtained earlier.
- In the generator, choose:
- Map Type: PREMIUM
- Region: NORTH AMERICA
- Maps: ROAD MAPS NORTH AMERICA PREMIUM (USB) 2020 (or latest version)
- Check the “lifetime code” option.
- Click “Generate.” Your FSC code will be displayed. Save this code securely.
Installing the Map Update
- Extract the downloaded map files directly to the root directory of your FAT32 formatted USB drive.
- Start your vehicle and allow the navigation system to fully load.
- Ensure the navigation is in non-split screen mode.
- Insert the USB drive into the glovebox USB port.
- Navigate to “Navigation Version” in the navigation menu, but do NOT click on it. Return to the main navigation view.
